Institute Rostovsky Vodokanalproekt has developed a pumping station reconstruction project for Severstal

Institute Rostovsky Vodokanalproekt  JSC has developed a water-intake facilities reconstruction project for the first-stage pumping station for Severstal JSC in Cherepovets. The pumping station with the capacity 14,500 m3/h provides the uninterrupted supply of river water for production and household needs of Severstal, in this manner refilling the irrecoverable losses of water in the closed-loop recirculation system of this plant. This water intake facility also ensures water supply to almost all enterprises of the city of Cherepovets.

A characteristic feature of working on the project was the necessity to account for a vast number of large-scale reconstruction activities, including:

·      complete replacement of the existing water intake portals;

·      installation of fish protection structures on the designed water intake portals in compliance with requirements of the fishing supervision authorities (capacity – 14,500 m3/h);

·      performance of activities for protection from fouling (modular hypochlorite installation, chlorine pipelines);

·      extension of the existing gravity pipelines with the 1200 mm diameter, from the gravity channel to the inlet chambers of the pumping station, including the back flushing, stop valves installation at the entry point to the pump station’s inlet chamber.

The project documentation includes data on technical equipment, data on engineering service networks, the list of engineering activities, and technological solutions.

Institute Rostovsky Vodokanalproekt  also provided the customer the estimate documentation, the assessment of negative impact on the ichthyo-fauna of River Sheksna, and calculation of the damage caused to fish resources in the course of reconstruction of fish protection structures along with an expert opinion of the Federal State Institution "Verkhnevolzhskrybvod".
